FAITH IN A HOPELESS SITUATION

Now ‘Faith’ is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see (NIV Hebrew 11:1). Yes that is the definition of faith by the Holy Bible.

From experience, I can tell you having faith in a hopeless situation could be a faltering task.  For a person to feel he or she is in a hopeless situation could be excruciating to describe, but I will try to explain further what it means. A person in a hopeless situation is in a state or condition of unhappiness or adversity and this person seems to see no possibility of success or a better state.
Life has a lot of hassles here and there. Sometimes, life goes smoothly and at times, life could be very tough. And during those tough times, it feels like you can’t feel God’s presence. In your state of dilemma you sometimes question your faith too.

In John 16:33, Jesus said “I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world you will have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous; I have overcome the world” (AMP). So Jesus didn’t promise us a smooth journey throughout life, He has prepared us ahead of time. Jesus wants us to have PEACE in Him and as Christians to know that the problems, difficulties and afflictions we have gone through or are going through now, He is aware of these all, the omniscient God.  Importantly, Jesus told us to be courageous and shouldn’t be afraid because HE HAS OVERCOME THE WORLD – meaning HE HAS DEFEATED THE WORLD.
Do you know the most amazing fact about God? God told us that we will face trouble in this world, and He also promised us in Hebrews 13:5b that, "I WILL NEVER LEAVE THEE, NOR FORSAKE THEE” (KJV). This means God will NEVER neglect or abandon His children in their affliction.

I know you might be wondering how you can have faith in your hopeless situation, yes I am going to share how I have been able to have faith in hopeless situations and you can try them too. I am not going to cajole you to thinking it going to be easy, truth be told it wasn’t easy. I shed a lot of tears, wailed, blamed myself, felt worthless, but the moment I took the step of turning to God and baring my heart completely to Him, there was this relief that came to my soul like Paul described in Philippians 4:7.

Steps to Having Faith in a Hopeless Situation

1.       Thank God for everything that has happened to you. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NIV) - “Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus”.
2.       Ask God to forgive all your sins of unrighteousness, doubting His power and existence (2 Chronicles 7:14, Proverbs 28:13, Psalm 86:5, Micah 7:18, Acts 13:38-39, Ephesians 1:7, 1 John 2:2) and; forgive those who hurt or offended you (Matthew 6:14, Mark 11:25, Luke 6:37, Ephesians 4:32, Colossians 3:13).
3.        Ask God’s Holy Spirit to dwell in you, to comfort you, guide you, teach you and pray for you (Luke 11:13, John 14:16, John 14:26, John 15:26, John 16:13, Romans 8:26, 1 Corinthians 2:11).
4.       Surrender to God your hopeless situation, all your problems, bare everything to God, I mean everything to your CREATOR, THE OMNISCIENT (Psalm 139:4, Hebrews 4:13, Psalm 44:21 Isaiah 46:9-10), OMNIPOTENT (Romans 1:20, Colossians 1:6-7, Nehemiah 9:6, Isaiah 44:24), OMNIPRESENT GOD (Psalms 139:7-12, Jeremiah 23:24, Isaiah 43:2, Job 34:21).
5.       Ask God to grant your heart desires concerning that hopeless situation according to HIS PERFECT WILL (Proverbs 3:5-6, Jeremiah 29:11, Romans 8:26-27, Hebrews 13:20-21, James 1:5).
6.       Confess the hopeless situation isn’t yours anymore because you have handed it over to God Almighty (Revelation 12:10-11). Ultimately, it pays to be totally reliant on God, because that is the only way you can please Him (Hebrews 13:6).
7.       Thank God ahead of your testimony because you know He will give you the BEST (Psalm 107:1, 1 Thessalonians 5:18).

Finally, I encourage you to have faith in God (Hebrews 13:6), devote yourselves to prayer, be watchful and be thankful to God Almighty at all times (Colossians 4:2).

Thanks for stopping by.
